Amanda Race
Member at Large
Amanda Race, MA, CRC, has been the TVR Coordinator and Counselor for the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation program since January 2008. With over 32 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, she has dedicated 26 years to TCC—a Tribal Consortium representing 42 federally recognized Tribes in the Interior of Alaska.
Amanda has been an active participant in CANAR conferences since 2000 and was elected Member-At-Large in December 2022. A long-time resident of Fairbanks, Alaska, since 1986, she originally moved there to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) from her hometown of Summerville, South Carolina, near Charleston Naval Base.
As a proud military brat, Amanda grew up moving frequently due to her father Fred’s service in the U.S. Navy. She began school in Scotland and has lived in Iceland, Hawaii, Ohio, Illinois, and West Virginia. Her mother, Linda, managed home life for Amanda and her brother while their father was often at sea.
In December 2007, Amanda earned her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Western Washington University, funded by a Rehabilitation Services Administration scholarship. She has held her Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor since April 2008, with her current certification valid through September 2028. Over the years, she has actively supported CANAR, serving as a TVR program member, facilitator, and committee contributor.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her partner, Daniel, as well as visiting friends in Alaska and family in Colorado. She loves reading, playing trivia games, listening to music, and relaxing with her two cats. A passionate hockey fan, she cheers on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and UAF Nanook hockey teams and enjoys catching a good movie whenever she can.
